Franklin, Tenn. – Unlike the softgoods retail POS market where there are two leading vendors, one vendor clearly dominates the POS market for hardgoods retailers.
According to the new “POS Software of Hardgoods” study from IHL Group, Oracle is the clear market leader in the hardgoods market, with 39 of the top 200 accounts.
The hardgoods POS space is one that is highly fragmented due to the unique nature of its many different sub-segments, which require different capabilities and customizations. Consequently, Oracle dominates the market with a relatively low share. Something that is similar between hardgoods and softgoods, however, is that both markets are moving to a POS model based on distributed order management at its core.
