Hotel construction begins at One Daytona

Construction has started on the first hotel at One Daytona, the $120 million-plus project going up next to the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.



The 105-room Fairfield Inn & Suites being erected by Shaner Hotel Group is a short walk from the track. It will be joined by a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel to be called The Daytona.



“We saw an opportunity to take advantage of this unique location across from the Speedway and incorporate the race and excitement throughout the hotel,” said Plato Ghinos, president of Shaner, which operates 50 hotels globally.



Set to open in 2017, One Daytona’s tenants will include Cobb Theatres, P.F. Chang’s, and Guitar Center.



“It’s very exciting to see the first hotel at One Daytona going vertical,” commented Jeff Boerger, VP of corporate development for International Speedway Corporation, which is developing the project.
