Home goods retailer prepares to launch

4/3/2014

Online home goods retailer Tablesets.com said digital innovator Weihu Yan has made an investment in and joined the company as a strategic advisor.

Yan served as chief technology officer at Quidsi, a company previously known as Diapers.com that was sold to Amazon in 2011 for $500 million and subsequently renamed. Prior to joining Quidsi, Wei served as president of Suryani International, a web application development company with a focus on e-commerce platforms, for more than ten years. At Suryani, Wei developed the original system that enabled Diapers.com to manage its entire operation through a web-based system.

Once it launches, plans call for Tablesets.com to be an online retail platform for all things tabletop that connects people seeking extraordinary dining and entertaining ideas with its expert community of tablesetters. The tablesetter community is comprised by interior designers and decorators, wedding and event planners, caterers, chefs, photographers and all those who share a passion for transforming tables.

"We are excited to have Wei onboard both as an investor and advisor,” said Tableset co-founder and CEO Diego Fernandez. “He has devoted his career to developing and managing top-of-the-line technology offerings that enable companies to better serve their customers. He brings a deep understanding of the online retail space, as well as the expertise necessary to help us scale our business. As a pioneer in the field, his investment and partnership is a true vote of confidence."

According to Yan, Tablesets will become the go-to destination for those seeking to enhance their tables in any way.

"In addition, Tablesets is firmly positioning itself as a leader in a dynamic space within the home decor market, which has tremendous room for growth both in the U.S. and abroad,” Yan said. “What attracted me the most to the company, however, was their approach of combining technology and community-based inspiration to better serve its customers. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of tablesets."
