Home Depot settles EEOC suit
New York City Federal officials say The Home Depot has agreed to pay nearly $85,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging retaliation.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Friday the settlement stems from the case of an employee in Evergreen, Col., who was fired after filing a sex discrimination complaint in 2004.
Home Depot has already settled a lawsuit with the employee. Home Depot spokesman Stephen Holmes said Friday the retailer was glad to have the matter resolved but disappointed by the allegations in the suit.
The EEOC settlement includes an agreement that Home Depot will post its anti-discrimination policy and provide training about federal anti-discrimination laws. Home Depot will also make periodic reports to the EEOC.
