Hibbett Sports net income leaps 60% in Q1

Birmingham, Ala. Hibbett Sports reported Friday that its net income rose nearly 60% in its first quarter ended May 1.

The sporting goods retailer earned $17.3 million for the quarter, compared with $10.9 million in the year-ago period.

Revenue increased 17% to $184.5 million. Wall Street expected revenue of $175.5 million.
