HHgregg trumps Best Buy on Turkey Day
HHgregg CEO Dennis May said the retailer is approaching Black Friday differently this year, including opening its stores earlier than Best Buy on Thanksgiving Day and offering 40% storewide discounts.
HHgregg will open its stores at 4 p.m. on the holiday, an hour earlier than Best Buy and two hours earlier than most other retailers who plan to open Thanksgiving Day. The retailer also said its Black Friday Now promotion will begin Nov. 20 and run through Nov. 29 and will offer up to 40% off all items in the store.
“We’re offering more doorbusters than ever, free delivery on our major appliances and big savings before the shopping frenzy begins,” May said. “Consumers who are wanting a deal but are not interested in Thanksgiving or Black Friday lines can shop HHgregg as early as November 20 for unbeatable prices on the brands they love.”
HHgregg revealed its Black Friday plans just days after Best Buy announced it would open its stores at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Most other retailers who plan to open on Thanksgiving Day will open at 6 p.m.
Best Buy’s doorbuster specials will be offered in two waves with the first round available at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and a second set at 8 a.m. Black Friday.
