Harry & David boosts 1-800-Flowers Q2 performance

2/2/2015

Carle Place, N.Y. – The September 2014 closing of its acquisition of the Harry & David brand helped produce extremely strong performance during the second quarter of fiscal 2015 at 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. The retailer reported net income of $45.54 million, more than double the $17.99 million reported in the same quarter a year earlier.

Total net revenues also more than doubled to $534.27 million from $266.34 million. 1-800-Flowers said it attracted 1.3 million new customers. Approximately 3.3 million customers placed orders during the quarter, of whom 60% were repeat customers.

Looking ahead, 1-800-Flowers anticipates generating total net revenues from continuing operations in excess of $1.1 billion for fiscal 2015. The company has also launched a comprehensive integration program designed to identify and pursue synergistic opportunities for both revenue growth and operating efficiencies. It now have a variety of initiatives underway across our operating platform which we believe can generate operating cost efficiencies in excess of $15 million in the next 36 months. Achieving these savings will likely require some investment during the second half of fiscal 2015, which would offset any savings during the current fiscal year. 1-800-Flowers expect the full benefits of these operating synergies to be realized during a three year period beginning in fiscal 2016.
