Haier debuts ibiza portable media player

11/20/2007

NEW YORK In a late entry into the portable media market—and just in time for Black Friday—Haier America today launched its ibiza Rhapsody Wi-Fi portable media player. The device plays all the mp3 and video files you could want, and also offers the ability to access digital content from Rhapsody and AOL Video anywhere a Wi-Fi hotspot is available. All this in the palm of your hand; no computer hookup necessary.

The ibiza Rhapsody gives consumers instant portable access to the full Rhapsody library of millions of songs, including programmed music channels and exclusive performances from top artists in every genre. Using a wireless connect “hot button” a user can connect directly to the Rhapsody online library and download songs and albums, or demo till you heart’s content. You can listen to one song in Rhapsody’s library while downloading one, or multiple, songs at the same time. The player offers easy access to AOL Video, viewable on a 2.5-inch LCD screen, FM radio tuner, auto-updated news and info podcasts and can even store photos. There are even built-in customizable skins to personalize the look of your player.

The Bluetooth-enabled ibiza Rhapsody is immediately available on Amazon.com in a 30-gigabyte model with an MSRP of $329, with 4- and 8-gigabyte models to come. The media player comes with a 30-day free Rhapsody trial, and if one should choose not to sign up for the unlimited service ($14.95/mo.), you will still get 25 free plays a month and be able to enjoy select Rhapsody radio channels.
