H-E-B Turns to Reusable Bags in Texas

Beaumont, Texas, H-E-B is introducing reusable plastic bags at its Southeast Texas stores to reduce the number of plastic bags consumed by its shoppers.

Susan Ghertner, environmental affairs manager for H-E-B, said that the bags can be reused up to 30 times.

The move is part of the company’s latest effort to become more eco-friendly. This past October, the company announced that it was working with Abitibi-Consolidated to offer more recycling opportunities to Houston-area residents.
