A grand opening week
Tomorrow is a big day for Target as the retailer celebrates summer with the opening of 25 stores. The new stores are located throughout the country but there is somewhat of a concentration in the Northeast, with five units planned for Pennsylvania and another three in New York, including a unit in The Bronx that is Target’s closest unit to Manhattan.
The stores in Pennsylvania are located in Allentown, Philadelphia, Reading, Easton and Pottstown. In addition to The Bronx, the two additional New York stores are both located in Rochester. Three other states will receive two stores apiece including Texas, Florida, California and West Virginia. States with one new store opening include Michigan, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Connecticut, Virginia, Iowa, New Hampshire, Louisiana, and Nevada.
Target is on track to open about 75 new stores this year as the July openings follow a group of 27 new stores which opened in March. Another 25 stores are scheduled to open in October.
