Gottschalks hits auction block

San Francisco Gottschalks went on the auction block Monday in Delaware, with three bidders vying for the company's assets.

March 25 was the last day for bidders to qualify for the buy off.

Three companies have expressed interest in buying the department store chain, including Chinese company Shandong Commercial Group, which may keep some stores open if it takes over.

Gottschalk's filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January.
