Gottschalks extends auction date

Fresno, Calif. Gottschalks, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January, said it received approval from bankruptcy court to extend its auction date until March 30 while it talks with potential buyers.

Gottschalks said it is in "active discussions with multiple potential buyers," and is continuing normal business operations in its stores.

"We are pleased the court has extended the auction date, and we continue to negotiate in good faith with potential buyers to keep Gottschalks as a going concern," said Jim Famalett, company chairman and CEO.
