Gordmans' names dept. store vet CEO
Gordmans Stores five-month search for a CEO is over with veteran department store retailer Andrew Hall hired for the top job.
Hall takes over as president and CEO from Gordmans’ chairman Scott King, who had served as interim CEO since March of this year after Jeff Gordman stepped down as CEO of the 97-unit department store chain.
Hall, 53, most recently served as president and CEO of Stage Stores from 2008 to 2012 and prior to that served as the company’s president and COO from 2006 to 2008. Houston-based Stage Stores operates 849 apparel and accessories stores in 40 states. Prior to Stage Stores, Hall served in management roles of increasing responsibility with several former May Department Stores Company divisions which are now a part of Macy. He joined May in 1993 as a corporate director of financial reporting and eventually served as chairman of May’s Foley's Department Store Division from 2003 to 2006.
"(Andrew Hall) brings deep knowledge and expertise in the department store and everyday low price categories,” King said. “He has a strong operational and financial background with a proven record of leading high-caliber teams. He is uniquely qualified to lead Gordmans' strategic omnichannel expansion.”
Hall said Gordmans is a unique and exciting retail enterprise and that he would focus on empowering an already talented team.
“Key focus areas will be strengthening our everyday low price position in the market, building our national brand portfolio, enhancing the guest experience and launching e-commerce,” Hall said.
