Google Home could give Echo a run for the money

10/5/2016

New features give Google Home the boost needed to become a valid shopping assistant.

The device, designed to compete with Amazon’s Echo, was introduced at Google’s I/O event in May. However, new functionality was introduced at Google’s media event in Tuesday, reported Internet Retailer.

The device, which is designed with a cloud-based artificial intelligence assistant app, is a voice-activated gadget programmed to access Google’s search engine and consumer’s apps. Users’ voice commands can prompt the device to manage their “connected home,” including dimming lights or activating alarms, or to add items to digital shopping lists.

Users can also command the device to make reservations at a restaurant, then follow the needed to complete the reservation, the article summarized.
