GNC Profit Up in 2Q
Pittsburgh General Nutrition Centers saw an 8.5% revenue increase for the second quarter over the same period last year, the company announced Thursday.
Sales grew to $422.7 million, with revenue growth coming from all the company’s distribution channels: Retail sales grew by 6.3%, franchising by 8.6 % and wholesale by 28%. Same-store sales increased 4.5%.
GNC’s sales for the period represent the first time the company can compare year-to-year quarterly results under their new ownership. Last year, Apollo Management sold the nutritional supplements retailer to Are Management LLC and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board for $1.7 billion. The deal was completed on March 16, 2007.
