Giant Food to debut new prototype in D.C.

12/4/2007

LANDOVER, Md. Giant Food has announced that it will open a new prototype store in the Southeast area of Washington, D.C. this Friday.

Dubbed "Super Giant," the 63,000 square foot, full service food and pharmacy store is part of a revitalization project of a former National Guard facility known as Camp. According to the company, the Camp Simms Giant will be the first district supermarket to open east of the Anacostia River since 1997. Giant added that its new prototype moves away from its conventional layout and will feature new decor and signage and larger food and pharmacy departments in a state-of-the-art energy-efficient building.

“We are please to open this new prototype store in the Camp Simms community of Washington, D.C., as it will offer our shoppers an exceptional selection of prepared foods, quality perishable and non-perishable products, and a friendly staff dedicated to a high level of customer service,” said Jim Astuto, Giant’s evp of operations.
