Giant Eagle to buy Le-Nature plant
PITTSBURGH According to reports, Giant Eagle has reached an agreement with the bankrupt Le-Nature bottling company to buy its facility for $20 million. The agreement was reached with the trustee for Le-Nature, Todd Neilson, who filed the sales agreement Friday in U.S. District Bankruptcy Court in Pittsburgh.
Giant Eagle will acquire Le-Nature's building, land, machinery, inventory and office furniture, as well as the rights to trademarks and patents, reports say. However, Giant Eagle is not guranteed to become the new owner of Le-Nature, as other bidders can make offers during an auction to be held Aug. 9 at a court hearing. In order to be considered, bidders must make offers of at least $750,000 more than Giant Eagle's and put up $2 million in advance.
