Plans are being finalized for a new 100,000-sq.-ft. retail re-development in Enid, Oklahoma, across from the city’s Oakwood Mall, according to developer GBT Realty Corp.
The Brentwood, Tennessee.-based company, said the project known as Oakwood Commons will be completed this fall and currently includes an Academy Sports + Outdoors, Ulta Beauty and Maurices. Negotiations are currently underway to bring additional national names to fill the 23,000 sq. ft. of available space at the center located about 90 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. The site, formerly home to Walmart and most recently, a distribution center for the regional home and garden retailer Atwoods Ranch and Home, was acquired from Atwood’s Distribution, LLC on March 18 for $3.85 million.
“Enid is a growing micropolitan community and the seventh largest retail market in Oklahoma with more than $900 million in retail sales,” said George Tomlin, president and CEO of GBT Realty. “Signs of continued growth are everywhere. More than 130,000 people consider Enid their primary shopping location. And the Enid Event Center only three miles to the east is repeatedly selling-out concerts to chart-topping artists.
