GameStop takes care of its own with new relief fund

GRAPEVINE, Texas — GameStop as formed The Gamer Fund to provide temporary relief and meet the basic needs of GameStop associates who are facing hardships from tragic and isolated events. Endowed with seed donations from GameStop’s founders and senior management team, The Gamer Fund will be fully run and funded by GameStop associates.



This employee-sponsored charitable organization provides financial grants to assist with short-term needs due to an unforeseen emergency or hardship. These events can include, but are not limited to, the loss of a home due to fire, a death of a loved one or a natural disaster.



“The Gamer Fund, at its core, is the essence of the GameStop culture,” stated Mike Buskey, chairman and president of The Gamer Fund. “This unique organization allows associates to give back not only by funding its efforts, but also by managing the day-to-day process. A recent example of the fund at work is the support given to those affected by Hurricane Isaac.”
