GameStop to Buy Free Record Shop Norway

Grapevine, Texas GameStop Corp. said Monday that it agreed to buy the outstanding share capital of Free Record Shop Norway, which will add retail 49 locations to its total.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

GameStop said the Free Record stores in Norway will be transitioned to the GameStop brand. After the stores are added, GameStop will run 160 locations throughout Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

In a statement, Free Record Shop Holding CEO Hans Breukhoven said the company is pleased that its sales staff "found employment in the GameStop organization and can help them with their planned growth."

The deal is expected to be completed in early April.
