Game Crazy rolls out new POS printers

Wilsonville, Ore. Game Crazy, operated by Movie Gallery, completed the installation of new thermal POS printers to speed up the checkout experience for its growing gaming customer base.

Increasing consumer demand for video games has prompted the company to deliver more customer service, especially at the front end. “It was time to improve the speed of service and efficiency in our stores,” said Craig Miller, SVP and CIO, Game Crazy.

The chain chose the TM-T88IV printers, from Epson, Long Beach, Calif., because they feature fast, uniform print speed regardless of receipt complexity. The small printer is connected to POS via a high-speed USB port. All 560 locations are now using the technology.

Game Crazy also participates in Epson’s Spare-In-the-Air program. Rather than waiting on a technician to conduct an on-site repair, the service program enables Game Crazy to call Epson, which ships a replacement unit for next-day delivery. The service helps the chain minimize printer downtime at POS, according to a company statement.
