FTC against Whole Foods seeing data

6/22/2007

WASHINGTON In a public court filing, the Federal Trade Commission said it is seeking to prevent Whole Foods' legal team from gaining access to their competitors information. According to the FTC, the company's general counsel are involved in non-legal affairs that relate to competitive decision-making. The FTC said it also believes giving Whole Foods access to third party information would hinder their cooperation with future Commission investigations.

The FTC sued Whole Foods next month, saying its attempt to acquire Wild Oats Markets is in violation of antitrust laws, as the merger would give Whole Foods too much control over the market.
