Fossil brings stores to the modern age


Whether customers at its stores are looking for convenient digital payment or easy access to product and price information, vertical specialty retailer Fossil Group Inc. is uncovering new mobile-enabled store services.

Richardson, Texas-based Fossil has selected in-store technology from Aptos Inc. (formerly Epicor Retail Solutions) including the vendor’s Mobile Store POS application. The company will initially deploy the solution at about 500 of its more than 600 corporate stores.

Leveraging integrated Verifone FIPay payment security technology, the solution simplifies and secures electronic payment acceptance at the point-of-purchase. It will enable Fossil’s retail locations to accommodate new and emerging methods of payment, and comply with security best practices.

In addition, the retailer will deploy the Aptos Mobile Store platform. Fully mobile-enabled for deployment and use on iPad, iPod and Windows, mobile devices, Aptos Mobile Store will help Fossil provide product, inventory, and pricing information to store shoppers in real time.

Consumer expectations of the store experience have risen dramatically. They expect the same immediate ability to execute transactions and obtain product and price information they have online. Bringing in these capabilities to its stores via mobile devices lets Fossil modernize the store experience without costly infrastructure expenses.

The mobile approach also ensures Fossil can quickly and easily upgrade store services as consumer expectations and technological functionality continue to grow. In this way, Fossil can avoid becoming a brick-and-mortar dinosaur.
