OMAHA, Neb. Carter Cast, the former president and ceo of Walmart.com, has been named ceo of NetShops, a developer and operator of specialty niche e-commerce Web sites. Doug Nielsen, co-founder and president/ceo, will assume the title of chairman.

Carter served as president and ceo of Walmart.com until spring 2007. He was instrumental in the site's launch and helped develop into one of the highest volume e-commerce sites in the world. "Carter brings to NetShops a proven track record in leading, developing and scaling high growth e-commerce companies, as well as tremendous credibility as a strategic marketer. I'm thrilled to have him take over the helm as ceo as we continue to leverage the tremendous growth opportunities inherent in our business model," said Nielsen.
