Former Wal-Mart exec joins DreamWorks

LOS ANGELES Former Wal-Mart video executive David Porter is joining DreamWorks Animation SKG to head distribution. The newly created position will charge Porter with developing new distribution channels for the studio’s films.

While a Wal-Mart company policy prohibits Porter from dealing directly with Wal-Mart for five years – a policy designed to preclude favoritism – it may not directly affect him in his new job. DreamWorks now has its DVDs distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment and does not deal directly with retailers.
