Former Supervalu exec to head agricultural software provider

SAN RAMON, Calif. Former Supervalu executive L. Gary Gionnette has been named president and CEO of AgriWise, an international provider of software services for agricultural businesses.

Gionnette most recently served as COO of W. Newell & Co., Supervalu’s specialty produce distribution facility. Gionnette had previously served as VP with responsibility for all Supervalu produce distribution operations.

On taking this new position, Gionnette said, “The produce industry is entering a new era and I believe that the AgriWise suite of business solutions plays an important role in giving growers, packers and shippers access to the critical information they need to run their business efficiently and profitably.
