Former Albertsons ceo Warren McCain dies at 82
BOISE, Idaho Former ceo of Albertsons, Warren E. McCain died of natural causes on Saturday at his home in Boise. He was 82.
McCain worked closely with chain founder Joe Albertson and served as ceo from 1976 until 1991. He is credited with helping Albertsons move from a local Idaho chain to a major national player. McCain joined the company in 1959 and soon became district manager and division president in Denver. He then returned to Idaho to take the position of president and in 1976, became ceo.
McCain is survived by his wife, two daughters and three grandchildren; a son died in 1995.
