Forget garage sales—just go to FedEx

Consumers looking to sell their unwanted treasures now have a new option thanks to a partnership between eBay Inc. and FedEx Office.



The two companies are teaming up to offer eBay Valet drop-off locations at more than 1,600 FedEx Office stores nationwide over the coming months.



The eBay Valet program launched in 2014, was designed to take the hassel out of selling goods on the online marketplace site. It lets sellers send their unwanted goods directly to eBay where the company lists, sells and ships the merchandise.



In the new venture with FedEx, however, sellers will be able to bring goods to a FedEx Office location, where an associate will pack and ship the item(s) to an eBay Valet processing center to be listed, sold and shipped to the buyer. (The items must be worth $25 or more.)



Once the item(s) sells, the seller will receive payment via PayPal. Customers will receive updates and notifications throughout the selling process.. EBay and FedEx share a commission ranging from 20- to 40% on each sale. The sellers pay nothing up front.



The program accepts items from a range of product categories, including electronics, antiques. collectibles, high-end clothing and shoes, small appliances and even bulky items like golf clubs.



eBay and FedEx piloted the Valet drop-off program in Atlanta and Los Angeles, and found that the majority of the customers who dropped off merchandise were new to selling on eBay.
