Food Lion and Hannaford Bros. Focus on Employee Pay Cards

Grocery retailers Food Lion and Hannaford Bros., subsidiaries of Delhaize Group, selected Tampa, Fla.-based nFinanSe to be the exclusive provider of a pay-card program for participating employees. Under the agreement, nFinanSe will provide its Discover-branded pay cards to the participating employees and manage the program, including the application of payroll payments to the cards.

The Delhaize subsidiaries have more than 1,500 stores in 16 states operating under the brand names Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Reid’s, Harveys Supermarkets, Hannaford Supermarkets and Sweetbay. The retailer employs approximately 109,000 full-time and part-time associates in the Eastern United States.

The nFinanSe Network is a PC-based software platform that connects retailers with multiple stored-value prepaid-card processors and issuing banks.
