Finance and logistics experts join TJX board

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. Jose Alvarez and Alan Bennett have become the newest members of TJX's board of directors, the company announced last week.

Alvarez has been president and ceo of Ahold's Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover supermarket chain since 2006. Prior to that he was evp of supply chain and logistics for the company. He joined Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover in 2001.

Bennett served as senior vp and cfo of Aetna and previously held other senior financial management positions at that company, including controller and director of internal audit. He joined Aetna in 1995 as cfo of Aetna Business Resources.

According to Ben Cammarata, chairman of the board of TJX, Alvarez and Bennett each bring a different expertise to the company's board.

"Jose is a retail ceo with deep experience in supply chain and logistics, and has held senior management positions with two leading supermarket chains," said Cammarata. "Alan is an experienced cfo who brings in-depth financial and marketing expertise to the TJX Board, having served in senior roles within these areas with several major corporations. We look forward to working with them as we continue to grow TJX successfully.”
