Field & Stream wades into new channel

Outdoor enthusiasts can now purchase outdoor goods from the indoor comfort of their homes.



The specialty outdoor Field & Stream chain, a 19-store banner of Dick’s Sporting Goods, has launched its first-ever e-commerce website.



“As we continue to grow our national footprint, it’s been a goal of ours to offer our customers the convenience of a seamless shopping experience both in our stores as well as online,” said Traci Hayes, VP e-commerce, Dick’s Sporting Goods. “With the launch of our e-commerce platform, outdoor enthusiasts across the country are now able to access a vast assortment of quality products offered at Field & Stream stores.”



To further enhance Dick’s omnichannel capabilities, FieldandStreamShop.com is the second e-commerce site Dick’s operates in-house. Dick’s also operates the GolfGalaxy.com e-commerce site for its specialty Golf Galaxy banner.



E-commerce and omnichannel commerce are becoming prevalent enough that even subsidiary banners of major retailers need to launch their own branded commerce sites. Presumably in time parent company Dick’s will look to add mobile- and social-optimized shopping channels for these chains, as well.
