With FedEx’s help, Newegg expands it online order pick-up game

11/10/2016

To compete with Amazon’s pickup points and lockers, Newegg now offers order pickup service across more than 2,500 locations.

While most online shoppers ship items to their homes, a growing number of people prefer the security and convenience of retrieving their packages at a store or retail location. Through a partnership with FedEx, Newegg shoppers can now order and pick-up packages at more than 2,500 FedEx locations throughout the United States, including 1,800 FedEx Office retail stores.

The new service also gives Newegg customers shipping to U.S. addresses the option of “Hold at FedEx Location,” which allows packages to be stored securely and free of charge for up to five business days. This new order-delivery option gives customers peace-of-mind about shipping to secure locations, with the flexibility to pick up their orders when and where it’s most convenient.

“FedEx has always been an integral part of our order-delivery infrastructure, with reliable, timely delivery of customers’ orders to their door-steps,” said Danny Lee, Newegg CEO. “Today, we expand our collaboration by giving customers the option of delivery-for-pickup at FedEx locations near their home or office.”

The pick-up service bolsters a portfolio of shipping options, including Newegg’s will-call order fulfillment, a free service that allows shoppers to pick up orders in dedicated distribution facilities in North America, and free shipping for Newegg Premier Members, among and other delivery options, according to a company statement.
