Fashionable father to lead dad’s day committee

Matthew Youngs, president of Ralph Lauren Childrenswear and Latin America has been named chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee.


In this new capacity, Youngs will collaborate with Dan Orwig, president and CEO of The Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, to oversee and execute the Annual Father of the Year Awards luncheon benefitting Save the Children’s U.S. Programs.


“As Matthew’s co-chair last year, I have witnessed his outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to this organization first hand, and I am certain he will be influential as we look to create another successful event,” said Orwig. “Matthew has proven his passion and commitment to our philanthropic efforts, and will continue to build awareness and support for children and families in need.”


A retail veteran, Youngs currently serves as president of Childrenswear and Latin America at Ralph Lauren, a leader in the design, marketing and distribution of premium lifestyle products. Prior to his 16-year tenure at the brand, he held several executive positions within the industry. Additionally, he is an active member of the Ralph Lauren Pink Pony Campaign, an international initiative aiming to address the disparities in care for women with breast cancer. Youngs holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Florida.

As part of its pledge to support meaningful charities dealing with motherhood and fatherhood issues, The National Father’s Day/Mother/s Day Council, Inc. has donated more than $35 million to date to support many significant family-related philanthropic undertakings nationwide.


The Council’s past honorees have included Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, Generals Douglas MacArthur, Colin Powell and Norman Schwarzkopf, sports notables Arthur Ashe, Jim Kelly and Steve Young, and communications leaders Tim Russert and Brian Williams.
