Fancy Flooring

10/22/2007

Automotive enthusiasts have long held their garages in higher esteem than the average homeowner. They recognize the garage is more than a place to park vehicles, but rather an extension of the home and a place to play, relax and pursue hobbies. As such, it is a living space worthy of special treatment in much the same way as a game room or home office.

Consumers with the discretionary income to equip their garages with coordinated cabinetry systems, rolling tool chests and wall-mounted vacuums, have a special passion for their garages. That’s why in the mind of garage aficionados, the space isn’t complete until special attention has been paid to the floor.

Homeowners have always had the option of painting the concrete floor with some type of epoxy coating, but that can be time consuming and messy. However, a new breed of flooring systems is gaining popularity that addresses the shortcomings of coatings. Interlocking tiles are easy to install and remove, they are more durable than paint and, best of all, they are available in a wide array of interesting patterns, colors and licensed themes that let homeowners express their creativity.
