Family Dollar emphasizes budget priced brands
MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for families this holiday season.
The company plans to have in stock hundreds of toys and gifts priced at $10 or less at its more than 7,000 nationwide locations. The single price point strategy is designed to appeal to the large segment of shoppers hard-hit by the economy and who need stretch their holiday budgets.
"We know our customers look to Family Dollar to help them celebrate the holidays. This year, we are proud to offer an expanded selection of items to make this holiday season even more memorable and budget friendly," said Michael Bloom, president and COO of Family Dollar.
Shoppers will be able to choose from name brand toys, including Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price and Disney. Family Dollar stores across the country will also have Kenya, Monster High, Angry Birds, the Avengers and Brave in stock. Shoppers will receive a 10% discount for every $100 they spend on toys.
In addition, Family Dollar has expanded its health and wellness, food and household departments and offers fall and winter fashions for low prices, designed to position the discount chain as a one-stop shopping destination for the holiday season and beyond.
"Our goal is to make holiday shopping convenient and affordable for all of our customers," Bloom said. "With Family Dollar's small format stores and newly re-designed layout, customers will find everything they need quickly and easily, in a fun and festive shopping environment."
The North Carolina-based discount retailer is one of the fastest-growing discount retail chains in the United States with more than 7,500 stores located in 45 states, all of which will offer $5 and $10 toys and gifts. Family Dollar will also feature the $5 and $10 toys and gifts in its Christmas Toy Book, which it began distributing nationally this month, as well as on its Facebook page and Twitter feed.
