EVP, pres. of Nordstrom Direct joins West Marine board
WATSONVILLE, Calif. — EVP and president of Nordstrom Direct Jamie Nordstrom has joined West Marine's board of directors. Nordstrom also was appointed as the fourth member of West Marine's governance and compensation committee.
His board and committee service is expected to begin on the first meeting scheduled in 2013, most likely in March, and Nordstrom, like all the other directors, will stand for re-election to the board at West Marine's 2013 annual meeting of stockholders.
A fourth generation family member, Nordstrom began his career in the stockroom of Nordstrom's Bellevue, Wash., store in 1986, and went on to hold a number of store and buying management positions. Prior to being named president of Nordstrom Direct, he helped lead an effort to implement a perpetual inventory system and build a multichannel foundation to better serve customers in stores and online. For Nordstrom Direct, Nordstrom’s position supports Nordstrom.com, mobile, catalogs and fulfillment center operations.
"We are thrilled to have Jamie join our board. He is an extremely talented and well-respected retailer and a passionate boater. Jamie has demonstrated a track record of successfully achieving results and driving change across diverse operating units and we look forward to his contributions in our efforts to deliver a seamless, multi-channel proposition that provides an outstanding customer experience," said Randy Repass, chairman of West Marine.
As a specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories, West Marine plans to leverage Nordstrom’s expertise in improving technology and capabilities across all channels and his experience in offering broader selections online and greater speed and convenience. West Marine’s Direct-to-Customer division, which makes up the retailer’s call center, direct mail and e-commerce channels, offers customers more than 75,000 products.
