The end is near! Emergency preparedness on sale

10/22/2014

Citing “radically increased customer interest” in the emergency preparedness category, Overstock is boosting inventory and offering special incentives.

The online retailer said it created an emergency prep section on its O.info public wiki-based guide site and is offering 15% back in Rewards Dollars to its Club O loyalty members who make emergency prep purchase.

"As recent media attention surrounding public health concerns has increased, so has customer interest in emergency preparedness supplies," said Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne. "At this stage, we want to help people get ready through access to quality products and good information."

Overstock's inventory of emergency preparedness supplies includes a selection of food storage, first aid and survival gear options. The site also features a Farmers Market, from which users may arrange for home delivery of locally grown food.

O.info offers the public a wiki platform from which to collaboratively communicate on this and other topics. The site's Emergency Prep section is available for individuals to publish instructions on, among other topics, how to build a food storage system, where to find post-disaster resources, and the state of local public health systems.
