Electronics e-retailer offers post office deliveries in Canada

4/5/2017

Online shoppers are demanding more flexibility and control in their delivery experiences — and Newegg is responding.

The electronics e-retailer now enables its Canadian shoppers to ship purchases to more than 6,000 Canada Post retail post offices. Newegg created the program through a partnership with air freight shipping company Purolator International and Canada Post.

As shoppers complete their online order, the new shipping option is integrated in the shopping cart checkout process. Customers can enter the postal code of the desired delivery area, and a list of nearby shipping destinations among Canada Post’s network of more than 6,000 retail post offices across the country is displayed. Once the destination is chosen, the customer’s order is delivered and held for pick-up at no extra charge.

The Deliver to Post Office option also provides customers with access to full tracking from initial pickup to delivery. Shipments that originate from the U.S. are pre-cleared for entry into Canada, with taxes and duties paid upfront (delivery duties paid) and guaranteed deliver-by dates, the company reported.

“Newegg is committed to meeting customers on their terms, and an important part of that commitment is offering innovative delivery options,” said Danny Lee, Newegg CEO. “This new Deliver to Post Office option gives our Canadian customers the flexibility to pick up their shipments when and where it’s most convenient.”

Deliver to Post Office expands Newegg’s portfolio of order-delivery services, which also includes will-call order fulfillment at some distribution facilities in North America, and free shipping for Newegg Premier Members.
