Eidson takes coo role at Spartan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Spartan Stores has named Dennis Eidson as president and coo, the company announced today. He has also been appointed as a director on the company’s board and his term will expire at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting in 2010.

As president and coo, Eidson will lead the company’s overall strategy implementation and execution, and direct all operating aspects of both the retail and distribution business segments.

Dennis Eidson joined Spartan Stores in March 2003 as evp of marketing and merchandising. In February, he was appointed to the newly created position of evp and coo. Prior to joining Spartan Stores, Eidson was divisional president and ceo of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company’s Midwest region, and assistant general manager for Nash Finch's Michigan Operations.
