Edelman, Harrison named to new Macy's posts

5/9/2008

CINCINNATI Macy's has announced that Daniel Edelman, currently president and coo of San Francisco-based Macy's West, has been appointed to the new corporate-level position of president for international retail development. Robert Harrison, previously president and coo of Macy's Northwest in Seattle, will succeed Edelman as president and coo of the Macy's West division. Both appointments are effective immediately.

In his new role, Edelman will be responsible for researching and analyzing opportunities for international expansion of the Macy's and

Bloomingdale's brands. He will remain based in San Francisco and report to Terry Lundgren, Macy's, chairman, president and ceo.

Harrison has led the transition as Macy's Northwest was consolidated into Macy's West this spring. He will relocate to San Francisco to join Jeff Gennette, chairman and ceo, and Rudolph Borneo, vice chairman and director of stores, as part of the Macy's West senior management team.

Edelman has served as president and coo of Macy's West since February 2006. Previously, he had been chairman and ceo of Macy's Northwest since March 1998 and president of the division since February 1997. Prior to that, he spent six years as vice chairman for finance and operations at Macy's West.

Harrison became president and coo of Macy's Northwest in February 2006 following Macy's Inc.'s acquisition of The May Department Stores Company. Previously, he had been chairman of Robinsons-May since October 2004, having served as the division's senior vp and cfo since June 2002.
