Eddie Bauer said to be for sale again

5/7/2009

Seattle Eddie Bauer Holdings is said to be in discussions with potential buyers, according to an article in The Seattle Times.

The buyers include Gordon Brothers Group and Hilco Consumer Capital, according to the newspaper.

Hudson Capital Partners also may consider a bid, according to the Times’ anonymous sources

There was no comment from Eddie Bauer CEO Neil Fiske, nor from the potential buyers.

One of the sources said a potential buyer may shut down some Eddie Bauer stores or close all locations and continue to operate the company's catalog business.

Eddie Bauer emerged as an independent company in 2005, two years after parent Spiegel filed for bankruptcy protection. General Mills owned the company from 1971 until 1988.

Shareholders rejected the clothing maker's efforts to sell the company in 2007.
