Ebates acquires Extrabux
Leading online cash back shopping platform Ebates has acquired Extrabux, a free comparison-shopping website where consumers discover the best prices, find coupons and earn cash back on their online purchases.
As a result, the two companies have a growing membership base in China and have launched Ebates.cn.
Extrabux co-founders Jeff Nobbs and Noah Auerhahn will assume leadership positions in Ebates’ China operations. Nobbs will manage the China operations out of its new Shanghai office, and Auerhahn will drive product innovation and development for the Chinese-language site.
“The combination of Ebates and Extrabux will improve the online shopping experience for customers of both companies around the globe,” said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates. “Extrabux brings a great team of business and technology experts, and we are excited to have Jeff at the helm of our China operations.”
“Becoming part of Ebates will further our goal of advancing and improving global ecommerce,” said Nobbs. “I am excited to lead our efforts in China, and fulfill our vision to provide Chinese shoppers with the same exceptional savings opportunities enjoyed by consumers in North America.”
Ebates.cn will offer members cash back, coupons and special deals from more than one thousand retailers including eBay, Macys.com, Sierra Trading Post and Vitacost. During March, shoppers will be able to earn up to 8% cash back by shopping at their favorite retailers through Ebates.cn.
