Duckwall-ALCO May sales up 2%

ABILENE, Kan. Duckwall-ALCO Stores announced that sales from continuing operations for the most recent fiscal four week period ending May 31 increased 2% to $42.5 million compared to $41.6 million in the prior-year month. Same-store sales were essentially equal to prior-year same period, down .4%.

Larry Zigerelli, president and CEO, commented, "Despite a cooler weather impact in most markets, sales continued to be strong for the fifth consecutive month. The turn around program that began in fall 2008 remains on track, as all components of the strategic plan are on or ahead of schedule."
