Duane Reade names new executives

NEW YORK Duane Reade Holdings announced that it will further strengthen its senior management team through the appointment of two key executives. Joseph Magnacca will join Duane Reade as senior vp and chief merchandising officer, pending U.S. visa approval which is anticipated to occur in October. Mark Scharbo will join Duane Reade as the company's senior vp of supply chain, effective Oct. 6.

Magnacca, a 20-year veteran of the retail industry, comes to Duane Reade from Shoppers Drug Mart, a Canadian drug store chain where he led marketing and merchandising initiatives since 2002. He most recently served as evp of merchandising and category management.

Scharbo has been the coo of Case-Mate, a  provider of leather accessories for cell phones and other digital devices that he co-founded in 2005.
