Dollar General to Expand Market Concept

Dallas, Dollar General plans to open at least 30 of its Dollar General Market concept stores, which feature a broader selection of groceries than its traditional units, in several markets this year, according to a report in the Dallas Business Journal. Analysts told the paper that the Market format is designed to help the company compete more effectively with Wal-Mart’s Neighborhood Market stores. Dollar General plans to open 700 stores in total during 2005.
