Dollar General elevates counsel to EVP

Just two years after starting the job, the general counsel at Dollar General has been promoted to executive vice president.


The retailer announced that Rhonda M. Taylor, currently senior VP and general counsel, has been promoted to executive VP and general counsel.



“Rhonda is a valuable member of our executive leadership team and is a trusted advisor on legal and business issues impacting Dollar General. In addition, she provides outstanding leadership and I look forward to her continued success at Dollar General,” said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO.


Rhonda started with Dollar General as an Employment Attorney in 2000 and was promoted to Senior Employment Attorney in 2001. She was promoted to Deputy General Counsel in 2004 and then moved into the role of Vice President and Assistant General Counsel in 2010. In June 2013, she became Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to joining Dollar General, Rhonda specialized in labor law and employment litigation at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart in Nashville, Tennessee. She previously held positions with Ford & Harrison in Memphis and Stokes & Bartholomew in Nashville. Rhonda earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Birmingham-Southern College and her juris doctorate from the University of Virginia.
