Discount Grocer Opens in Provo
Carson, Calif. No-frills grocer Buy Low Market opened its first Utah store on Tuesday.
Located in a 65,000-sq.-ft. space in Provo, Utah, Buy Low Market is relying on its “Always Buy Low” tagline, and aggressive pricing strategies to attract cost-conscious shoppers seeking the best value during the recession.
“Most grocery stores will put their sale items on the front page of the ad. Our entire ad is about value,” said Jim McCaleb, store director of Buy Low.
The most competitive prices are among produce and meat. These fresh departments account for more than 40% of the chain’s annual gross sales of $20 million. Associated Food will supply approximately 60% of the store’s groceries, according to a report in the Daily Herald.
