Digital fulfillment firm adds to DC network
E-commerce facilitator Newgistics has opened three new distribution facilities in Kentucky, California and Illinois encompassing more than 600,000 square feet.
The Austin-based provider of ecommerce solutions and services for leading brands and retailers said the move expands its network of distribution centers nationwide to allowing it to offer competitive costs and faster, more efficient shipping services coast-to-coast. Including the new facilities, Newgistics now operates nine SmartCenters, which handle parcel delivery and return shipments. Two SmartCenters also operate as fulfillment centers, in addition to three exclusive fulfillment centers.
The new facility in Kentucky is located in the community of Hebron and measures 500,000-sq.-ft. and is regarded as a full solution facility because it is capable of handling fulfillment, parcel delivery and returns. The California is also regarded as a full solution facility although it measure only 128,000-sq.-ft. and is located in the city of Commerce. The third facility is located in Chicago called a SmartCenter because it is a parcel and returns facility.
“These new facilities demonstrate our continued growth as a company and our commitment to providing our shipping customers a best-in-class experience at a cost-effective price point,” said Bill Razzouk, chairman and CEO of Newgistics. “Each location was carefully selected because it is well-situated to minimize transit times and shipping expenses for direct-to-consumer merchants.”
