Dick's opening new stores in Va., S.C., and Fla.

Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. is opening four new stores this month as the company moves forward with its plan to open as many as 750 stores by 2017.

The company will distribute free Reebok Play Dry T-Shirts to the first 100 people in queue on the opening day. Also, the early birds will get an opportunity to open the DICK'S Sporting Goods Gift Locker on all three days. Moreover, on Saturday and Sunday, the company plans to give away free Mystery Gift Cards worth $5–$500 to the first 100 adults in line.

New stores will open this month in Virginia, South Carolina and Florida. The new Virginia outlets will bring the company’s store count in the state to 29, while the South Carolina and Florida ones will mark the 13th and 34th store, respectively, in those states.The new stores will expand the company’s store base in the United States to 617.

Dick's says it now expects to have between 735 and 750 stores by the end of the 2017 fiscal year, up from 603 at the end of fiscal 2014 but not as many as the 800 it expected it would have back in September 2013. Dick expects to spend about $850 million to open new stores and remodel existing ones as well as build its own eCommerce platform.
