Dick's coo steps down, named vice chairman

PITTSBURGH Dick's Sporting Goods announced today that William Colombo is stepping down from his current role as president and coo to assume the role of vice chairman effective Feb. 2, the end of Dick's fiscal year.

Colombo's responsibilities will be assumed by Joseph Schmidt, evp of operations, Timothy Kullman, evp of finance, administration and cfo, and Edward Stack, chairman and ceo.

Colombo joined Dick's in 1988, and became evp and coo in 1995. Prior to becoming president and a board member in 2002, he served as President of dsports.com LLC, the company's Internet commerce subsidiary, from late 1998 to 2001.
